CFC Mourns Passing of NRECA Senior Director Russ Wasson

Russel D. Wasson, NRECA senior director of Regulatory Affairs, died August 7 surrounded by his family after a battle with cancer. He was 71.

Wasson worked for accounting firms Arthur Young and Ernst & Whinney, and also Baton Rouge-based Cajun Electric Power Cooperative before starting his own consultancy in 2000. In 2005, he joined NRECA as senior director of Tax, Finance and Accounting. Wasson loved to fish and play music, which he continued to do throughout his life.

“Russ was one of the electric cooperative network’s most trusted voices regarding tax, finance and accounting policy,” CFC Senior Vice President and Chief Corporate Affairs Officer Brad Captain said. “He always put members first in his many accomplishments. He will be deeply missed.”
