2024 NCB Co-op 100 Includes 20 Electric Cooperatives, CFC

National Cooperative Bank (NCB) recently released its 33rd annual Co-op 100 list, which ranks the nation’s top cooperative enterprises by annual revenue. Electric cooperatives are represented with 14 generation and transmission (G&T) cooperatives, five distribution cooperatives and CFC.  

Electric cooperatives, including CFC, on the list accounted for a combined $24.27 billion in revenue in 2023. The highest-ranked G&T is North Dakota-based Basin Electric Power Cooperative at number 21 with $2.89 billion in revenue, while the highest-ranked distribution cooperative is Cobb Electric Membership Corporation at number 38 with $1.75 billion in revenue. 

The G&T cooperatives with the biggest moves are South Carolina-based Central Electric Power Cooperative, up six spots to number 46 with $1.49 billion in revenue, and Colorado-based Tri-State G&T Association, up two spots to number 47 with $1.47 billion in revenue. CFC moved up 12 spots to number 52. 

The top 100 cooperatives generated revenue of $325 billion, a slight increase from 2022. Agribusiness cooperative CHS, Inc., headquartered in Minnesota, topped the chart again with $45.6 billion in revenue.
