CFC Senior Vice President of Loan Operations Robin Reed joins CFC Vice President of Corporate Communications Charles Gloeckner to discuss how CFC’s more than 30 years of rural telecommunications lending experience through the Rural Telephone Finance Cooperative uniquely prepared it to support rural broadband expansion. They share how rural America was left behind the internet revolution and how electric cooperatives can prepare for expanding access to high-speed connectivity. Reed also discusses the benefits of electric cooperatives working with telecommunication cooperatives to deliver broadband services to their communities.
CFC recently hosted three webinars and published an issue brief focused on broadband accounting considerations along with two case studies. The brief provides an overview of the accounting concerns electric cooperatives will need to keep in mind when starting a broadband project as well as managing a telecommunications business. The case studies highlight two broadband business plans for a subsidiary and division structure approach.
