In the report, readers will find updated information on how CFC helps electric cooperatives finance projects that matter deeply to rural communities, including renewable energy, broadband expansion and enhancing grid resilience. The report also explores how CFC supports local economic development, disaster recovery, sound governance, financial management and community-focused efforts both in the U.S. and internationally.
An essential takeaway of the report is that CFC and its members continue to make meaningful investments that support a more resilient and connected rural America. The report notes that CFC has loaned over $3.5 billion to electric cooperatives and their subsidiaries in support of broadband efforts, and that between 2018 and 2022, electric cooperatives supported approximately 623,000 jobs and contributed $554 billion to the nation’s gross domestic product.

The report also includes information on how CFC helps electric cooperatives contribute to the communities that created them, whether it is through the CFC Educational Fund, support for the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Rural Economic Development Loan and Grant program or employee-led charitable and volunteer efforts in Northern Virginia.
