Commentator, Innovator Take the CFC IBES 2023 Stage

Golf broadcaster David Feherty, former Secretary of Defense Dr. Mark T. Esper and marketing trailblazer Bonin Bough will headline a dynamic CFC Independent Borrowers Executive Summit (IBES) 2023, being held November 13–15 in Savannah, Georgia. The conference, targeted toward senior leaders of non-Rural Utilities Service borrower cooperatives, provides critical insights on key energy industry, public policy, financial and management issues.

David Feherty

David Feherty joined the professional golf ranks in 1976 and won 10 worldwide events throughout his career. He captained the winning 1990 Alfred Dunhill Cup team, played for Europe in the 1991 Ryder Cup and notched top-10 finishes at the 1991 PGA Championship and 1994 Open Championship. In 1997, Feherty transitioned to broadcasting and began his career as an analyst and on-course reporter. Over the course of 25 years, he has held high-profile roles with some of the sport’s leading networks, covering hundreds of marquee events, major championships and international competitions. Feherty is one of the most influential and recognized voices in golf and is known for delivering insight and humor to audiences around the globe.

His talk show, “Feherty,” earned him an Emmy nomination in 2014. Throughout the show’s 10-year run, he has hosted and interviewed nearly 150 guests and some of the world’s biggest names, including four U.S. presidents, Hollywood celebrities and global sports legends.

Most recently, Feherty joined the LIV Golf broadcast team to serve as an on-air commentator and co-executive producer of LIV Golf event coverage. 

Off the course, Feherty has become a New York Times’ best-selling author, struggled with and overcome depression, and in 2012, was awarded the Outstanding Civilian Service Award for substantial contributions to the U.S. Army community through his work with the Troops First Foundation.

Dr. Mark T. Esper

Dr. Mark T. Esper became the 27th Secretary of Defense in July 2019. In that role, Esper was responsible for ensuring the United States’ national security, protecting the American people at home and abroad, and advancing the country’s interests globally. Prior to becoming Defense Secretary, Esper served as the 23rd Secretary of the Army from November 2017 until June 2019.  

Esper’s memoir, “A Sacred Oath: Memoirs of a Secretary of Defense During Extraordinary Times,” chronicles this critical period of modern American history and was an instant New York Times bestseller

Currently, Esper is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. He is also the first John S. McCain Distinguished Fellow at the McCain Institute, the distinguished chair of the Modern War Institute at West Point and a board member of the Atlantic Council.  

Esper graduated from West Point with distinction in 1986. During his 21-year military career, he earned numerous awards and honors, including the Bronze Star, the Legion of Merit and the Combat Infantryman Badge.
