2020 CFC District Meetings and Elections Go Virtual

NRECA replaced the 2020 slate of five in-person regional meetings earlier this summer with an Online Regional Week October 12 through 16.

The Online Regional Week general sessions will take place Wednesday, October 14, and include remarks from Curtis Wynn, NRECA president, CFC board director and president and CEO of Roanoke Electric Cooperative, and Jim Matheson, NRECA CEO. Retired General Colin L. Powell will present the keynote address illustrating what it takes to be a leader and how to “take charge.”

CFC CEO Sheldon Petersen will speak on the strength of the electric cooperative program.

Visit the Online Regional Week webpage on cooperative.com for the full agenda with dates and times.

Register to Attend Both Online Regional Week and CFC Virtual District Meetings

In order to participate in the Online Regional Week events, including the CFC Virtual District Meeting, all attendees will need to register through cooperative.com. By registering for the Online Regional Meeting, you are also being registered to attend the CFC Virtual District Meeting. Log-in information will be sent separately to registrants prior to the event.

The CFC District Meetings and elections to fill eight seats on the CFC Board of Directors will be conducted as part of the Online Regional Week on October 15 and 16. In addition, members in seven districts (1, 2, 5, 7, 8, 9 and 10) will ratify Nominating Committees tasked with choosing candidates for CFC board seats up for election in 2021.

Vote By Mail or During the Virtual Meeting

The official notice of meetings and delegate registration information were mailed to all CFC voting members in early September. Members can vote for the proposed 2021 Nominating Committee and director candidate in one of two ways: by mail ballot or during remote attendance at the meeting. CFC encourages members to vote by mail.

To vote by mail, voting members can complete and sign in full the mail ballot, place the ballot in the return envelope and mail to CFC. Voting members may vote on behalf of only one system and must use the original ballot provided. Mail ballots are due to CFC headquarters at least five days before the meeting, either Thursday, October 8 or Friday, October 9.

Voting members can choose to vote during the meeting by appointing a voting and alternate delegate for the event by registering on the CFC District Meeting Delegate Certification webpage. Each system should certify its voting delegate by Friday, October 9.

In order to transact business at this year’s District Membership Meetings, a quorum of at least 10 percent of membership must be established. As part of the recent amendments to the bylaws approved during the CFC Special Membership Meeting, mail ballots will be counted toward the quorum of the virtual meetings.
