DULLES, Va.—The National Rural Utilities Cooperative Finance Corporation (CFC) has analyzed preliminary data for its 2022 Key Ratio Trend Analysis (KRTA) report, an annual assessment of financial trends among electric distribution cooperatives nationwide. The results show electric cooperatives continue their growth across many metrics, including consumers, sales and utility plant investment, and have maintained strong financial metrics.
WASHINGTON Oct. 9, 2023 – America’s electric cooperatives supported approximately 623,000 American jobs and contributed $111 billion annually to gross domestic product (GDP) from 2018 through 2022, according to a new report. Many of these impacts occur within the local communities served by co-ops, including 424,000 jobs and $75 billion annually in GDP. Yet these activities also have far-reaching impacts across the country—even in areas where co-ops do not serve consumers directly.
