Recordings from CFC Forum 2024 general sessions and select breakout sessions are available on the CFC Member Website under the “Events & Training” section for around 30 days following the event.
CFC CEO Andrew Don (left) moderated a discussion with Michael Lewis (right), the bestselling author of “The Blind Side,” “Moneyball” and “The Big Short.” Lewis drew from his rich repertoire of bestselling books to give the audience keen observations and masterful storytelling. “I really do try to move through the world looking for the story at the center of stories,” Lewis said. “It’s very hard to write a story without a character, and I become more aware of that the longer I’ve done this.”
Wall Street veteran and one of CNBC’s original “Fast Money Five” Guy Adami (left) sat down with Former President & COO of Goldman Sachs and current Vice Chairman of IBM Gary Cohn (right). Cohn shared his expertise on economic policy and provided valuable insights into the forces shaping the global economy for investors, businesses and policymakers alike. “You have to know what you’re going to do long before a potentially unforeseen event happens,” Cohn said. “If you’re trying to figure it out, when the event’s going on, you’re in a lot of trouble. Nothing good’s going to happen if you’re trying to make the decision while the event’s happening.”
Bruce Mueller (left)—CEO and general manager of Wheatland Electric Cooperative and NCSC District 4 Director—moderated a discussion with Bret Baier (right)—chief political anchor and host/executive editor of “Special Report with Bret Baier.” Baier spoke about the pivotal moments that shaped his remarkable journey, the impact of media on public opinion and political polarization. “I think any time you’re interviewing a president of the United States, it is really consequential no matter what’s happening,” said Baier. “And I’ve been fortunate to interview H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, Barack Obama and President Trump.”
David Axelrod (center)—senior political commentator for CNN and former adviser to President Barack Obama—and Karl Rove (right)—FOX News contributor and former deputy chief of staff and senior adviser to President George W. Bush—had a conversation at a unique Forum breakout session that was moderated by John Cassady (left), CEO of Indiana Electric Cooperatives. Axelrod and Rove discussed the challenges and opportunities of governance in today’s polarized climate, offered candid reflections on the state of the nation and discussed the prospects for bipartisan cooperation.
